AMCC COACHES PICK ALFRED STATE TO FINISH AT TOP OF BASEBALL STANDINGS

After winning the regular season a year ago, Alfred State College is expected to finish at the top of conference standings in 2024, according to league coaches. Penn State Behrend has been selected to finish second, while 2023 AMCC tournament champion Penn State Altoona is expected to round out the top three.

Mount Aloysius junior P/INF Tyler Quade has been named the Preseason Player of the Year, while Alfred State junior Ryan Bailey has tabbed as the Preseason Pitcher of the Year.

Quade was an AMCC first team all-conference selection in 2023, as well as an ABCA All-American. He led the Mounties in batting average at .496 with 15 doubles and 102 total bases. Quade also won five games off the mound and compiled 63 strikeouts in 62 innings pitched.

Bailey was an AMCC first team selection in 2023. He led the Pioneers in strikeouts (65), compiling an 8-1 record w/ a 3.98 ERA in 63 innings of work. Bailey only walked 20 batters on the season and finished with a 1.18 WHIP.

The AMCC tournament will begin with first round games taking place on Saturday, May 4. The AMCC Championship series is slated for May 9-11 at the site of the highest remaining seed.  The winner will earn the conference’s automatic bid to the NCAA Division III tournament.
