FOUR NAMED TO D3BASEBALL ALL-REGION TEAM

The AMCC saw four baseball players selected to the D3baseball.com All-Region 7 Second Team, which include Penn State Behrend second baseman Zack Bowen, Alfred State College outfielder Matteo Avallone, Hilbert College designated hitter Patrick Whelan, and Mount Aloysius College outfileder Tyler Quade. Quade was also named the Region 7 Rookie of the Year.

At the plate, Quade led the AMCC in batting average, hitting .435 on the season, .476 in conference play. He finished first in the league in triples (4), slugging percentage (.794), and total bases (50), in conference play. He also finished in the top five in homeruns (2) and on-base percentage (.514). His .435 average ranks him 36th nationally, which is the third best mark by a freshman. The average also ranks him fourth in program history in a single season. On the mound, Quade led the league in wins and batting average against (.157). The freshman made five starts, going 4-1, with a 1.29 ERA, and earned a complete game in all five starts. Quade was named the AMCC Newcomer, Player, and Pitcher of the Year this season.

Bowen ends his career being named one of the best in the conference for the third time in his career. Bowen was previously a third-team selection in 2021 and 2019 and earns first-team honors ranking in the top-10 in almost every offensive statistical category at the conclusion of the regular season. With a batting average of .372, Bowen played a key role in run production, driving in 31 while scoring a conference-best 49. The second baseman compiled 51 hits with 20 going for extra bases and led the AMCC in triples with seven.

Avallone started all 38 regular season games and 16 conference games. He led the AMCC in home runs with nine, hits with 59 and total bases with 98. He was second in doubles with 12, second in RBIs with 39 and second in slugging percentage with .671. He was third in on base percentage with .473, fourth in runs with 31 and fifth in batting average with .404. He finished the season starting all 43 games and recorded 64 hits, 36 runs, 10 home runs, 12 doubles, 45 RBIs, five stolen bases, and 106 total bases. Offensively, he had 127 put outs, 8 assists, a .971 fielding percentage and 3 double plays. He was named AMCC player of the week twice.

Whelan was a First Team All-Conference selection while serving as the Hawks designated hitter. The Buffalo native hit .357 with 12 extra base hits, including three home runs, and finished with an impressive 1.028 OPS. He set new single-season program records in runs batted in (32) and number of times hit by a pitch (12) over 32 games started. Whelan had strong performances in the Hawks two postseason games as well, reaching base safely in four of his six plate appearances, including a line drive home run, to earn AMCC All-Tournament Team honors as well.
