LA ROCHE'S CHASE ROWE ACCEPTS POSITION WITH DETROIT TIGERS ORGANIZATION

Earlier this week, La Roche University's Head Baseball Coach, Chase Rowe, announced on twitter that he has accepted a position with a minor league affiliate of the Detroit Tigers. In 2006, Coach Rowe took over La Roche's baseball program at the age of 23, making him one of the youngest coaches in the NCAA. During Rowe's 13-year tenure, the Redhawks won eight Regular Season AMCC Titles, seven AMCC Tournament Championships, finished runner-up in the 2015 NCAA Mideast Regional and won the 2016 NCAA Mideast Regional to advance to the programs first College World Series. The program posted an impressive 370-195-1 record (.656) over those 13 seasons. Coach Rowe has won seven AMCC Coach of the Year Awards and in 2015 & 2016 he was named the ABCA/Diamond Mideast Region Coach of the Year as well as the D3baseball.com Mideast Region Coach of the Year. Rowe was also the recipient of the 2015 Chuck Tanner Collegiate Coach of the Year award and the 2018 D3 Hero National Coach of the Year Runner-Up.

Rowe has coached six All-Americans, 28 All-Region Selections and 95 AMCC All-Conference Selections. Five players have signed professional contracts during the Rowe Era at La Roche: 2010 George Nahay, 2015 Tyler Ferguson, 2015 Alex Simone, 2015 Tanner Wilt and 2017 David Lemley.

Of Rowe's departure, La Roche's Athletic Director, Jim Tinkey, had this to say: "Chase has been a huge part of not only the success of the baseball program but the overall success and advancement of our entire athletic program. You can't measure what Coach Rowe has accomplished leading our baseball program with just wins and losses. Under any other circumstances I'd be pretty disappointed about losing a member of our family here in the athletic department. But these opportunities are not all that common for Division III coaches and I support him 100% with this next step in his career. I'm proud of Chase, he's a good man and good friend and I will miss having him around, we all will."

In addition to leading the baseball program, Chase was the Manager of Athletic Facilities for La Roche. He helped coordinate and oversee updates and transformations to the Baierl Athletic Complex and the Kerr Sport & Fitness Center.

Assistant Coach Sean Lubin will step in as the teams Interim Head Coach for the 2019-20 season. Lubin, a former AMCC All-Conference Selection, graduated from La Roche in 2015 and has served as an assistant under Rowe for the past four seasons.
