FIVE AMCC BASEBALL PLAYERS NAMED TO ALL-ECAC TEAM

Five AMCC baseball players were named to the 2019 Division III All-Eastern College Athletic Conference (ECAC) Team, announced on Thursday. Penn State Behrend senior Scott Sada and Alfred State College senior Garrett Mack were both named to the second team, while Behrend freshman Joshua Wagner and Penn State Altoona's Chase Clouser and George Stiuso picked up honorable mention honors.

Sada led the team and conference in runs (53), doubles (24) and stolen bases (22). The shortstop was also first on the team with 59 hits, while driving in 34 runs and ripping six home runs to go with two triples. Sada was named the Behrend Male Athlete of the Year and to the All-AMCC second team. He broke the Division III record for career doubles, and ranked first nationally in doubles and doubles per game.

Mack, the AMCC Pitcher of the Year, was 5-1 overall with a 2.72 ERA in 59.2 innings of work. He allowed just 45 hits while striking out 53. He held opposing hitters to just a .200 batting average. In AMCC play, Mack was 4-0 with a 1.57 ERA. In AMCC action and allowed just 13 hits, two unearned runs, and struck out 34. During a stretch of six appearances this season (37.2 innings of work), he didn't allow an earned run. During that stretch he threw three straight complete game victories for the Pioneers (vs. Pitt Bradford - 9 IP, 3H, 11 K's, vs. Medaille 9 IP, 5 H, 13 K's, and vs. D'Youville 9 IP, 5H, 10 K's). 

Wagner was the lone Behrend player on the All-AMCC first team this season. He led the team and conference with 51 RBIs. Wagner was second on the team with 53 hits and 23 doubles. He posted a .335 average and ranked third in NCAA DIII statistics in doubles and doubles per game.

Clouser posted a solid junior season for the Lions, as he ranked sixth in the AMCC in home runs (6), seventh in runs batted in (39), 11th in stolen bases (10), 13th in walks (22), 15th in runs scored (34), 17th in total bases (69), 19th in slugging percentage (.519), 22nd in hits (42), 26th in on-base percentage (.424), 28th in triples (1), 29th in batting average (.316), and 36th in doubles (7).

Stiuso enjoyed a strong junior campaign for the Lions, including being one of the top players in the conference at getting on base. In the AMCC this season, he ranked second in walks (36) and on-base percentage (.494), fifth in times hit by pitch (10), 10th in RBI (37) and home runs (5), 11th in stolen bases (10), 12th in slugging percentage (.539), 14th in doubles (10), 23rd in total bases (62), 26th in runs scored (28), 28th in triples (1), 35th in batting average (.304), and 37th in hits (35). Stiuso's 36 walks drawn this season set a new Penn State Altoona baseball single season record.
