Morgan Sets Up Markers, But Hawks Fall 3-2

HAMBURG, N.Y. – After trading goals in the first half, the Hilbert College women's soccer team wasn't able to match Mount Aloysius College's final marker in the second period and lost 3-2 in AMCC action this afternoon.

Less than 90 seconds into play, Imarie Waller converted Jackie Morgan's nice feed to the opposite side of the frame and gave Hilbert a 1-0 lead.   The Mounties responded with two tallies by the 30th minute to take their first lead of the game.  Then, just three and a half minutes later, Courtney Vaccaro scored her sixth goal of the season to force a second tie in the contest.  Jackie Morgan set the score up again for her fourth assist this fall.

Hilbert controlled the pace outshooting the visitors 13-9 and attempted four corners compared to the Mounties line-ups before intermission.

As the game progressed into the second half, both teams were sighted for more fouls due to field conditions and frustrations over slippery footing.  The Mounties connected for the game winner with three players going inside to outside to back of the net at 65:57.  Mount Aloysius flipped the switch and forced four corner kicks and held a four-attempt advantage over the Hawks in the final 45 minutes.

Statistically, it was an evenly played game as both teams took 18 shots and ended with four corner kicks.

Jenna Castricone was credited with 10 saves, seven in the second half.

The Hawks (4-6, 0-3 AAMCC) return to Hamburg midweek when they host D'Youville College October 7 with a 4:15 pm start.
