WAYNESBURG, Pa. - The Penn State Behrend baseball team swept a non-conference doubleheader at Waynesburg Sunday afternoon.

Game One: Penn State Behrend 12, Waynesburg 4
Record: Penn State Behrend (7-3), Waynesburg (8-5)

Key Moments:

* Both teams were able to plate a run in the first inning
* Freshman Dylan Barnes (Pittsburgh, PA/North Hills) gave the Lions a 3-1 lead with a two-run single in the top of the second. Behrend tacked on two more runs on a throwing error by Waynesburg
* The Yellow Jackets cut their deficit to two (5-3) on back-to-back RBI singles
* Silvio Ionadi (Pittsburgh, PA/Plum) stepped in the box in the top of third and delivered an RBI double, followed by an RBI single from Anthony Slate (Hopewell, PA/Hopewell) to push the Lions lead back to four (7-3)
* Right fielder Chase Palmer (Brookville, PA/Brookville) registered four runs batted in the fifth and sixth inning with an RBI double and a three-run extra base hit
* Relievers Jake Manendo (Erie, PA/Mercyhurst Prep), Andrew Bredel (Clinton, PA/Burgettstown), and Joe Lang (Pittsburgh, PA/North Allegheny) tallied five innings out of the bullpen, allowing only one run on five hits and striking out six
* Manendo picked up the win, while Barnes, Palmer, Slate, and Spencer Deitz (Erie, PA/McDowell) each recorded two hits with Palmer driving in four runs
* Dalton Mount and Todd Burner each registered three hits for the Yellow Jackets

Game Two: Penn State Behrend 7, Waynesburg 2
Record: Penn State Behrend (8-3), Waynesburg (8-6)

Key Moments:

* Four runs on four hits gave Behrend a 4-0 advantage after three innings of play
* The third inning was highlighted by RBI doubles from Barnes and David Gibson (North East, PA/North East)
* Gibson hit his first collegiate home run in the top of the fifth, a two-run blast that extended the Lions lead to 6-0
* A Mac Ciocco sac fly (Venetia, PA/Peters Township) added a run in the sixth inning and secured the second victory of the day for the Behrend
* Behrend starter Ethan Tinker (Pittsburgh, PA/Avonworth) pitched three shutout innings, only giving up one hit to go along with four strikeouts for his first win of the season
* Out of the bullpen, Will Jamison (Shaler, PA/Shaler) and Sawyer Prince (Shinglehouse, PA/Port Allegany) tossed a combined three scoreless innings
* Hunter Mamie hit a two-run homer for the Yellow Jackets in the bottom of the seventh to thwart Behrend's shutout attempt
* Slate finished 3-for-3 at the plate for the Lions, while Ciocco and Gibson each notched three RBIs apiece
