Baseball Can’t Scratch Back Against Lions

DAVENPORT, FL - On Monday, March 4th the Anna Maria College baseball team took on the Penn State Altoona Lions for their second game of the RussMatt Invitational down in Davenport, FL. The AMCATS lost the game 4-0.

The game opened up with a home run from the Lions in the first inning. The run would put the AMCATS at a 1-0 deficit going into the second inning. Unable to answer back, the game would go scoreless for the next two innings before the Lions managed their second run in the bottom of the fourth inning. The Lions would go on to score again in the bottom of the fifth to improve their lead to three. The game would see just one more run in the seventh inning as the Lions scored their fourth run of the night. Struggling to generate any offense, the AMCATS found themselves scoreless after nine innings resulting in a 4-0 victory for Penn State Altoona.

BEYOND THE BOX SCORE

  • Michael Shorey pitched 6 innings with a career high of 8 strikeouts against the Lions.
  • Patrick Chapin pitched the last two innings for the AMCATS posting 5 punches with no hits.

WHAT'S NEXT: 

The AMCATS will be back in action on Tuesday, March 5th where they will take on Penn State Brandywine for a doubleheader at the Lake Myrtle Sports Complex in Auburndale, FL. Game one starts at 3:45pm.
