Tartans Earn Tie with Second Half Goal

(PITTSBURGH, Pa.) - The Carnegie Mellon University men's soccer team hosted Mount Aloysius College on Wednesday, September 20. After a rigorous game, the Tartans and Mounties finished in a 1-1 tie. The Tartans are now 5-1-1 for the season while the Mounties move to 3-1-3.

  • Senior Diederik Schlingemann scored the equalizing goal for the Tartans in the 63rd minute off a corner kick served by senior Josh Baugh.
  • The Tartans tallied eight shots on goal with four coming in the first half.
  • The Mounties forced sophomore Liam Ryan to make three saves while they put the second goal of the season past Ryan in the 20th minute when a free ball off a clearance from the defense ended up at the 18-yard box for Daniel Irujo to run onto and strike with power to the left corner.
  • Senior William Rabon had two shots on goal for the Tartans.
