WILLIAMSPORT, Pa.  – The Hilbert College Women's Volleyball team earned a straight set victory over Clarks Summit this afternoon in Day 2 of the Lycoming Tournament.

With the win, Hilbert posted the program's first match victory in 74 matches and gave the Hawks a much needed lift as they head into a new season with a young squad.

HOW IT HAPPENED

  • Hilbert, after giving Clarks Summit a pair of points off attack errors, went on a 7-1 run and built a 20-8 lead before the Defenders reach ten points.  The Hawks earned 10 kills and nine service aces to take the first set, 25-20.
  • The second set was a little closer earlier in the game.  The Hawks, with an 8-6 advantage, stretched it to six points fueled from the service line again.  Hilbert again went on a seven point swing, built a 24-8 lead and closed the set off a kill (25-10).
  • Clarks Summit built a five-point lead, 13-8, midway through the third set.  Three Hilbert service aces and two kills pulled them back in the set and lifted the Hawks by one (15-14).  Hilbert continued to post points from the service line through to the final 25-19 match set victory.
  • Hilbert finished the game hitting one of their highest percentages in several years (.339) and collected 30 kills, 25 service aces, one block, and 21 digs.
  • Freshman McKenna Rice was perfect at the net with five kills in five attempts and no hitting errors.   Katie Kociszewski led with a team-high six kills and Brianna Borowiak and Michaela Rice shared in the Block Assist.
  • Jenna Revak was spot on from the service line, finishing with seven aces while Michaela Rice and Jaden Helbig added four and three, respectively.
  • Ashley Page and Jaden Helbig shared duties distributing the ball and collected 10 assists each.
