BUFFALO, N.Y. – The Hilbert College women's volleyball team was inches away from claiming a set victory, but D'Youville College had other plans for the Hawks tonight.

Hilbert gave up a 25-13 opening set to the Spartans before they challenged the hosts to a pair of very competitive AMCC sets.  D'Youville (7-15, 5-3 AMCC) outlasted the Royal and White by five total points in sets two and three as they grabbed a 25-23 and 25-22 Buffalo Cup victory from the Hawks.

Torianna LeWand drove in 10 kills, two service aces and brought up 15 digs working on both offense and defense.  Morgan Ott continued to do a little of everything as she collected nine kills, 10 assists, one service ace, three digs and a pair of block assists.

Nicole Benz shared setting duties and added 13 assists along with eight digs.  Anissa Quiroga chipped in 10 digs and six kills while Victoria Siracuse was credited with 14 digs as well as a few assists off passes directed to Ott who chose to second-touch over the net for kills.

For the match, Hilbert earned 28 kills with a .146 attack percentage while D'Youville posted a .232 attack behind 40 kills.  Both teams earned nine service aces with neither team breaking the other down with blocks on defense.

The Hawks (5-20) dropped to 1-7 in the AMCC with one final game remaining on their 2016 schedule. 

Hilbert hosts Penn State Altoona this Saturday, October 29 at 1pm.  Prior to the start of the game, Christopher Krueger and his team will honor the four graduating seniors: Amanda Binder, Morgan Ott, Serena Tecl and Nickee Thibault.
