Women's Tennis Roll Past Carlow

HUNTINGDON, Pa.- The Juniata women's tennis team won 7-2 in nonconference play over visiting Carlow on Sunday afternoon. 

All three doubles matches went to the Eagles. Medina Yessenaliyeva and Celia Navarro de Torres won 8-1 in first doubles, while Charley Madlock and Marilyn Ogof secured an 8-2 win first second doubles. Shveta Kalathur and Maggie Ackley earned an 8-3 win in third doubles. 

Yessenaliyeva cruised to a first singles sweep 6-0, 6-0 for her fourth-straight singles win, while Navarro de Torres also controlled the pace in a 6-0, 6-1 second singles win. Madlock won third singles 6-0, 6-1, while Ackley earned a sixth singles win 6-0, 6-1 for her third consecutive singles win. Ogof fell in the tiebreaker in fourth singles 6(4)-7(7), 6-1, 4-10, while Kalathur lost in fifth singles 3-6, 4-6. 

The Eagles host Landmark Conference opponents twice this week. They'll start by facing Lycoming on Tuesday at 4:00 pm in the first Landmark Conference match between the teams.
