Redhawks Fall To Titans In Return Home

PITTSBURGH, Pa. – La Roche men's soccer returned home after a two-game road trip, but were unsuccessful in defeating Westminster, falling to the Titans 6-2.

Westminster scored the first three goals of the game, in a 14:02 span from 12:03-26:05 to take a commanding lead in the first half.

Just before halftime, the Redhawks would respond, as Jake Gorman found the back of the net, assisted by Miles Jackson and Samuel Mastroberardino to trim the deficit to 3-1.

Unfortunately for La Roche, the Titans sparked out of the half, scoring two goals in 1:33 in the first 3:28 of play to take a 5-1 lead, before adding their final tally, a penalty kick at 66:56.

Late in the contest, the Redhawks buried their second goal of the night, when Anthony Valerio scored unassisted to make it 6-2 and conclude the scoring.

The final shot total saw Westminster take 27 shots with 15 on net, while La Roche had seven shots and four on net.

Between the pipes, sophomore goalkeeper Kyle Rizzo made six saves on nine attempts in the first half, while Logan McQueen played the second half and stopped three of six shots.

Gorman ended the game with a team best four shots and had two of the four shots on goal.
