PITTSBURGH, Pa. – La Roche women's lacrosse returned home for an AMCC matchup against Mt. Aloysius, but despite holding a 6-3 lead heading into the fourth, the Mounties scored five unanswered to steal an 8-6 victory.

In a low scoring first half, it was the Mounties scoring 27 seconds into the game to take a 1-0 lead.

It was almost 10 minutes later the Redhawks put their first tally on the board, as Jade Fuccaro found the back of the net with 4:45 to go in the first, assisted by Jasey Reiser.

With 2:21 to go, La Roche took the lead behind a Tea Smith free position goal, but the lead lasted 10 seconds as Mt. Aloysius tied the game at 2-2.

The Mounties scored one more goal in the first, with 17 seconds remaining, to take a 3-2 lead into the second quarter.

The Redhawks would score the only goal of a very defensive second quarter, as Kiki Nemcek scored on an assist by Alex Mecchia at the 7:10 remaining mark and the 3-3 tie held into the half.

It was all La Roche in the third quarter, scoring three goals to build a 6-3 edge.

In the quarter, 7:23 elapsed before Smith scored her second of the game to make it 4-3.

Not until 1:43 remaining did the red and black net its second of the frame as Reiser scored on an assist by Isabella Fittipaldo.

After two scoreless quarters, Mt. Aloysius responded, scoring a player down just 46 seconds into the fourth to make it 6-4.

With 12:33 to go, the Mounties cut the deficit to just one, scoring a free position goal to make it 6-5 and just 1:21 later, the game was tied as Mt. Aloysius scored a player up.

Just before the midway point of the fourth, the Mounties took the lead, 7-6, scoring with 8:25 to go.

As the clock went under five minutes, Mt. Aloysius added an insurance goal with 4:56 to go as La Roche's deficit grew to two and would stay the rest of the way.

The shot total ended in favor of the Mounties 22-18 and shots on goal were 19-15, also in favor of Mt. Aloysius.
