Panthers Drop Match to Bobcats on Senior Day

Bradford, Pa. -- The University of Pittsburgh at Bradford men's soccer team hosted Pitt-Greensburg on Saturday, falling to the Bobcats 3-0 on Senior Day.

Prior to the action, the Panthers took a few moments to celebrate 5 graduating seniors. Scott Compson, Austin Hogan, Spencer Sklar, Cooper Sunderlin and Allee Williams were all recognized for their contribution to the program over the past four years. The senior class has played 2 full seasons, after losing one to the COVID-19 pandemic, and have made the post-season in both seasons. They have totaled 34 foals and been a part of 18 wins.

Once the action started on the pitch, it did not take long to see the first goal as the visitors were able to score on their first attack of the game. The Panthers were unable to gather and clear a cross from the right flank, where a Greensburg attacker on the back post was able to control and shoot into a vacated net to put the Bobcats up 1-0. After the goal, the Bobcats maintained possession, keeping the Panthers without a shot for the first 39 minutes. They were able to take 6 more shots in that span, forcing Jared Scarlett into three saves. The Panthers' best chance to score came in the 40th minute. Spencer Sklar was able to beat a defender down the right flank and sent a cross into the six-yard box. Substitute Sahalpreet Singh was able to get onto the cross, but his shot was unable to find the near post, going out for a goal kick.

The Panthers were able to take the first shot of the second half as Sklar sent a shot off target in the 52nd, but it was followed by a long period of Pitt-Greensburg possession. Scarlett was able to make 4 more saves before the Bobcats broke through with their second goal in the 75th minute. Devin Stowe put a shot wide in the 79th minute, but the Bobcats quickly countered and added their third goal 30 seconds later. Pitt-Greensburg maintained the possession over the final 10 minutes, as they took two more shots, with Scarlett stopping one.

The Panthers were only able to muster three shots in the game. Spencer Sklar, Sahalpreet Singh and Devin Stowe took the shots, all missing the net. Jared Scarlett made 9 saves in the loss.

The loss drops Pitt-Bradford to 2-11 on the season and 1-3 in AMCC play. They will be back on the road for their midweek matchup, as they travel into New York for a matchup with Alfred State. The game is scheduled for 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday the 19th.
