Flores Knocks In Four Runs in Double Header Defeat

HOUGHTON, N.Y. – Hilbert College hosted Mt. Aloysius College in a baseball double header tilt at Houghton College's Burke Field this afternoon.  The Hawks suffered a 6-1 and a 12-5 defeat to the Mounties in AMCC action.

Eric Flores knocked in four of the Hawks' six runs this afternoon going 3-for-8 while Ryan Bonafede went 4-for-7 including a hit by pitch.

Ian Moran sprinted to three more stolen bases lifting him back to a #1 tie in the AMCC with 12 stolen bases on the season.

GAME 1

Mt. Aloysius built a 6-0 lead by the time Hilbert posted their run in the bottom of the sixth inning.

Ryan Bonafede went 2-for-2 and scored Hilbert's solo run when Eric Flores singled through the left side advanced him home.

Ian Moran stole back-to-back bases in the bottom of the fifth but was stranded at third before he could make it home.

Henry Bowers gave up five earned runs and struck out one in six innings of work.

GAME 2

The Mounties strung together runs in back-to-back innings after Hilbert held them scoreless in the first, fourth and seventh.  Mt. Aloysius got hot and hit three triples in the 2nd and 3rd innings and reached over the fence in the 5th.

Flores led a trio of Hawks with 2-for-5 hitting.  His RBI double in the first inning gave Hilbert a 2-0 lead heading into the second inning and his triple in the 7th started a 3-run push late in the game.

Winfred Nelson struck five out in the night cap loss.

The Hawks (6-12, 0-6 AMCC) are scheduled to battle D'Youville College in a Buffalo Cup contest April 12 at Centennial Park in West Seneca.
