Golden Eagles race past Mavericks 90-75

BUFFALO, N.Y.—The College at Brockport men's basketball team used a strong first half to come out with a big win against Medaille College, 90-75. The win moves the Golden Eagles above .500 with a 2-1 record and drops the Mavericks to 2-3 on the year.

The Green and Gold were led by senior guard Hamed Shamseldin who registered a career night including 26 points and a career high in rebounds and assists with 11 apiece to complete the triple double. Shamseldin got the game started with a three-pointer to give Brockport a lead that they did not relinquish the entire contest. Sophomore Justin Summers contributed ten points in the first half along with five boards, while upperclassmen David Clark and Josh Nelson chipped in a combined 11 points on 4-6 shooting. Shamseldin led the team in the first half with 13 points, which helped push the lead to as much as a 20 point, 46-26, advantage with 2:28 left in the first half. The Mavericks made a push and cut the deficit to 16 as the halftime horn blew.

Medaille continued to push in the second half cutting the lead to 13 at the 19:24 mark, but a jumper by Summers along with a trey by Nelson and Shamseldin quickly brought that lead back up to 20 at the 17:11 mark. The Golden Eagles fended off a mid-half run that brought the score to 69-58 with 8:34 left in the second half. Clark and Shamseldin both knocked down two big shots from behind the arc to bring the lead to 18 in a matter of minutes. The Green and Gold did not let it get any closer, notching their second win of the season 90-75.

Summers finished the game with 16 points and nine rebounds and Nelson chipped in 16 points as well on 5-of-8 shooting from the three-point line. Tyler Collins knocked down five of his six shots to contribute 13 points.
