CHAMBERSBURG, Pa. - After winning the first set, the Hilbert College men's volleyball team slipped in the second but regrouped and improved to 3-3 NEAC after their 4-1 victory over Lancaster Bible College tonight.
The Chargers took the opening set with ease, winning 25-12. Hilbert reversed roles and won 25-14 in the second. In what turned out to be the closest set, the Hawks out-lasted LBC earning a 25-21 victory and closed the match at 25-16.
Three Hawks hit for nine kills each led by
Tyler Sieczkarek's .400 attack percentage (9-3-15).
Korey Schwab committed just two hitting errors and
Michael Podgorny matched the same effort at the net offensively.
Of Hilbert's 36 kills,
Adam Heftka was credited with only 19 assists.
Podgorney and
Tanner Makowski led five Hawks who combined for seven service aces.
Korey Schwab was credited with one ace which gives him a career total of 84. The senior needs just one more service ace to become the Hawks All Time leader.
Trevor Gabamonte led the Hawks with eight digs and Sieczkarek led with four block assists.
The Hawks return to gym tomorrow and will face a first-year program, Wilson, at 11 am and Penn State Altoona at 3pm before they return to Hamburg.
