Jackson Reaches 2,000 Career Assists; Lions Fall at St. Vincent

LATROBE, Pa. – The St. Vincent men's volleyball team posted a 3-0 decision over Penn State Behrend in Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference (AMCC) action on Saturday night.

Score: St. Vincent 3, Penn State Behrend 0 (26-24, 25-15, 27-25)
Records:  Penn State Behrend (8-13, 3-2 AMCC), St. Vincent (16-7, 7-0 AMCC)

Noteworthy:

* Senior setter Alex Jackson (Cochranton, PA/Cochranton) tallied 33 assists to push him over the 2,000 career assists mark  

Key Moments:

* The Bearcats secured the three-set win to remain undefeated in conference play
* St. Vincent had set point in the first set at 24-21
* The Lions got two points on attack errors while getting a kill from Hoffman to even the score at 24-all
* The Bearcats won the final two points for a one-set lead at 26-24
* St. Vincent managed a 25-15 set-two victory, before winning a close third set similar to the first
* Shawn McSwiggen registered the final two kills in the third set to make it 27-25 for the win
* Kyle Hoffman (Carlton, PA/Cochranton) had 11 kills through two sets and finished with a team-best 13 and 13 digs for the double-double
* Luke Mumpower (North Huntingdon, PA/Norwin) also had double-digit digs with 11
* In addition to reaching 2,000 career assists with 33 assists, Jackson completed the double-double with also posting 10 digs
* Cameron Schleicher (Meadville, PA/Meadville) recorded 10 digs and six kills, while Joshua Elegeer (Waterford, PA/Fort LeBoeuf) tallied nine digs
