CRESSON, Pa. - The Penn State Behrend baseball team split a doubleheader at Mount Aloysius to begin conference play in the Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference (AMCC) Game of the Week on Sunday.

Game One: Mount Aloysius 10, Penn State Behrend 9 (7 inn.)
Records: Penn State Behrend (10-6, 0-1 AMCC), Mount Aloysius (13-7, 3-0 AMCC)

Key Moments:

* The Lions jumped out to a 2-0 lead, thanks to a pair of RBI singles from Silvio Ionadi (Pittsburgh, PA/Plum) and Anthony Slate (Hopewell, PA/Hopewell)
* The Mounties responded with five runs in the first two innings to take a 5-3 advantage
* Behrend answered back with six runs combined in the third and fourth innings, grabbing a 9-5 lead
* However, Mount Aloysius tallied some big hits down the stretch, walking it off in the bottom of the seventh on a sac fly
* Mac Ciocco (Venetia, PA/Peters Township) finished 3-for-4 with a triple and an RBI, while Ionadi and Thomas Nicely (Delmont, PA/Franklin Regional) each recorded two hits

Game Two: Penn State Behrend 8, Mount Aloysius 6
Records: Penn State Behrend (11-6, 1-1 AMCC), Mount Aloysius (13-8, 3-1 AMCC)

Key Moments:

* Mount Aloysius controlled a 6-1 lead after seven innings, but some late inning magic gave the Lions the eventual victory and twinbill split
* In the top of the ninth, Slate drove in the tying run and was then followed up by freshman Adam Cooper (State College, PA/State College) who notched a two-run single and gave the Lions an 8-6 lead
* Ciocco, Nicely, and Daniel Boehme (Peters Township, PA/Seton LaSalle) each registered three hits for Behrend
* On the mound, Andrew Bredel (Clinton, PA/Burgettstown) hurled five innings with two strikeouts in the start, while Jake Manendo (Erie, PA/Mercyhurst Prep) picked up the win in two scoreless innings of relief
