KEUKA PARK, N.Y. – The Hilbert College men's volleyball team challenged both opponents this afternoon but suffered a pair of North Eastern Athletic Conference (NEAC) losses at Keuka Park. The Hawks (0-12, 0-7) opened the afternoon with a 25-20, 25-15, 25-23 effort against Wells College (8-9, 4-2) and closed the day falling 25-16, 25-12, 25-14 to SUNY Poly (11-10, 6-1).
Michael Podgorny earned 3.00 kills per set and
Adam Heftka was credited with all of the Hawks' assists on the day. The senior setter tallied 38 helpers as Hilbert finished the day with a .060 attack percentage.
David Arlaud collected double digit kills and posted the highest hitting percentage (.238).
Podgorny,
Nathaniel Hyman and
Tanner Makowski lifted Hilbert with a combined 16 digs, led by Podgorny's six.
Heftka and Arlaud were solid at the net as each earned seven blocks. Heftka led with a pair of solo blocks and Arlaud created six block assist situations.
Against Wells, Hilbert was competitive fighting the Express to the end in two of the three sets. Podgorny and Arlaud matched kill for kill securing eight and seven respectively.
Nathaniel Hyman added four kills (.273) and
Caleb Nellis posted three of his own.
In the nightcap, Hilbert knocked down 13 kills, led by Podgorny's 10 and Arlaud's three.
Hilbert returns to Keuka's campus tomorrow for their 2pm match against the hosts which will complete their crossover weekend.
