ERIE, Pa. - The Penn State Behrend baseball team scored 22 runs on 14 hits against Alfred in its home opener Tuesday afternoon.

Key Moments:

* The Lions plated a run in every inning against the Saxons, forcing the 10-run rule to be put into effect
* Behrend jumped out to a 5-0 lead in the first inning, highlighted by an RBI triple from Silvio Ionadi (Pittsburgh, PA/Plum) and an RBI single off the bat of Anthony Slate (Hopewell, PA/Hopewell)
* In the bottom of the second, A. Slate tallied another RBI single
* Alfred grabbed two runs in the top of the third off an error by the Lions 
* Behrend poured it on with a six-run third and six-run fourth
* Ionadi came up in the bottom of the third and cleared the bases with a three-run triple to right center
* The Lions recorded three more runs in the bottom of the third to make the score 12-2
* In the fourth inning, freshmen Jake Awenowicz (Irwin, PA/Norwin) and Tyler Banks (Edinboro, PA/General McLane) got in on the action with an RBI single and two-run double
* Behrend's victory on Tuesday was capped off by a two-run triple and RBI double off the bats of freshmen David Gibson (North East, PA/North East) and Adam Cooper (State College, PA/State College)
* Ionadi, A. Slate, Cooper, and Stephen Slate (Hopewell, PA/Hopewell) each delivered two hits, while Ionadi and Gibson drove in a game-high four runs
* On the mound, Alec Greenblatt (Oliveburg, PA/Punxsutawney), Sawyer Prince (Shinglehouse, PA/Port Allegany), Devin Hicks (Clifton Springs, NY/Midlakes) and Nathan Campbell (Wexford, PA/North Allegheny) combined to only surrender one earned run on two hits with nine strikeouts in seven innings against Alfred hitters
* Greenblatt picked his second win of the season in three innings pitched as the starter, while Hicks struck out three batters in his one inning of relief
* Paul Tuttle and William Denton registered the lone hits for the Saxons
