FT. PIERCE, Fl – The Hilbert College baseball team won their final game today at the conclusion of  spring break training before they boarded the bus for the long drive back north.

The Hawks (4-5) beat SUNY Maritime 13-4 in a 1pm game and established a new program record with four wins during their annual week-long trek to  Florida.

Hilbert put two runs on the board in the bottom of the 1st and then doubled that number in the second inning.  Maritime responded with three runs in the top of the 3rd but still trailed 6-3.  The Hawks added seven more runs before the Privateers closed the scoring in the top of the 9th for the 13-4 score.

Michael Best, Ryan Bonafede, Eric Flores and Kevin Moore all knocked in two runs while earning three hits.   Those four plus Ryan Perrin hit doubles with  Moore connecting for the first run of the game.

Taylor Haug went 2-for-4 also added 2RBI but hit the game's solo triple.

Best, Haug and Ian Moran combined for Hilbert's three stolen bases.

Winfred Nelson earned his first win (1-1) as he pitched six innings, finished with three hits, four strike outs and gave up one earned run.

The Hawks hope to play their next scheduled game on March 25.  Hilbert will travel to Wells College for a non-conference double header.  The baseball team will host their home opener March 29 against AMCC-foe Penn State Behrend.
