MARCY, N.Y. - After falling behind by seven goals by intermission, the Hilbert men's lacrosse team matched point-for-point in the second half as they dropped a 13-6 North Eastern Athletic Conference game at SUNY Poly this afternoon.
Drew Werner (3 points) was credited with two of the Royal and White's three assists and
Edward Mathias (2 goals) led four other Hawks in the scoring column.
Elijah Ryan made 13 saves to post his fourth double-digit save game of the season.
The Wildcats built a 3-0 lead after 15 minutes of action before
Matthew Toro's man-up goal (Werner) broke the scoring drought with 8:22 on the clock in the second quarter setting a 4-1 score.
SUNY Poly closed the quarter with four more unanswered hits, taking an 8-1 lead to the break.
Werner and
James Duffy hooked-up for Hilbert's second man-up goal of the game at 13:30 and Mathias closed the 3rd quarter with a pair of unassisted goals (11-4).
The Wildcats extended their lead, 13-4, before Hilbert's
Liam Doyle and
Marc O'Neill (Werner) finished the day's scoring.
Joshua Maloney (two caused turnovers) earned seven ground balls and seven of Hilbert's eight face-off wins.
Hilbert (3-4, 1-1 NEAC) welcomes Medaille College to Eden High School April 10th for both teams next conference game at 4pm.
