AMCC ANNOUNCES ATHLETES OF THE WEEK FOR MARCH 3-9, 2025

The Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference (AMCC) has announced its Athletes of the Week selections in the sports of men's & women's lacrosse, men's volleyball, tennis and baseball, and women's softball for the period running from March 3-9, 2025.

Softball (Player): PS-Altoona INF Alyssa Fisher helped lead the Lions' offense through a 2-2 start in the Fastpitch Dreams Spring Classic, as Penn State Altoona faced Baruch, Kenyon, Gwynedd Mercy, and New Jersey City on Saturday and Sunday. In those four games, Fisher combined to hit .429 (6-for-14) with an inside the park home run, a double, three RBI, three runs scored, a walk, and a stolen base.

Softball (Pitcher): PS-Altoona SO Josselyn Nau threw two complete game shutouts for the Lions, who started their week-long trip competing in the Fastpitch Dreams Spring Classic. In a 2-0 win over Baruch on Saturday, she tossed seven scoreless innings while allowing six hits and one walk, and she struck out eight batters. On Sunday, in an 8-0 run rule win over Gwynedd Mercy, she went five scoreless innings, allowed only four hits and no walks, as had four strikeouts. On the week, Nau pitched 12 scoreless innings, allowed 10 hits and only one walk, and struck out 12.

Baseball (Player): Pitt-Bradford UTIL Maxwell Rogers hit .538 with two home runs, five runs, eight RBI and four steals in Myrtle Beach last week as he led Pitt-Bradford to a 5-2 record. Rogers also reached base at a .600 clip and slugged .808, as he recorded four multi-hit games, including four hits in a win over Lancaster Bible and three against Neumann.

Baseball (Pitcher): Pitt-Bradford SR Shawn Mannering was dominant in his lone start of the week as he led Pitt-Bradford to a 4-1 win over FDU-Florham. Mannering pitched a complete game against the Devils, allowing one earned run on three hits. He struck out 12 batters, including 10 of the first 15 batters he faced.

Men's Volleyball (Offensive): PS-Behrend OH Daniel Easly averaged 3.00 kills per set for a total of 18 kills in a pair of matches for the Lions. He led with a team-best 14 kills and hit .333 while adding 11 digs for the double-double vs. Wilson.

Men's Volleyball (Defensive): PS-Behrend OH Cameron Schleicher tallied 3.00 digs per set for a total of 18 in a 1-1 week for the Lions. He also added four kills, four blocks and two aces. At Wilson, he led the team with 12 digs.

Women's Lacrosse (Offensive): La Roche A Jasey Reiser had a strong week for La Roche, as the Redhawks went 2-0. In Tuesday's victory over Bethany, Reiser scored four goals, added two assists, eight draw controls and had a ground ball. She followed that performance in Saturday's victory over Spalding with six goals, three assists, six draw controls and a pair of ground balls. For the week, Reiser recorded 15 points (10 goals, five assists), 14 draw controls and three ground balls.

Women's Lacrosse (Defensive): La Roche D/GK Julianna Hornikel was strong in goal during La Roche's 2-0 week. In Tuesday's win over Bethany, Hornikel stoped 13 shots, scooped up a ground ball and caused a turnover. Hornikel picked up her second victory of the week over Spalding, stopping 11 more shots, picked up three ground balls and caused two more turnovers. For the week, Hornikel stopped 24 of 40 shots she faced, nearly a .500 save percentage, had four ground balls and caused three turnovers.

Men's Lacrosse (Offensive): Pitt-Bradford A Ben Byers had another huge week for the Panthers, tallying 10 goals over 3 games as the Panthers went 1-2. In the comeback victory over Spalding, Byers scored 5 goals on 13 shots on goal. He scored the game-tying goal with just 17 seconds left on the clock to send the game to overtime, and then won it with his 5th of the game in the extra period. he totaled 36 shots, putting 23 of them on target. He had 1 assist and gathered 10 ground balls.

Men's Lacrosse (Defensive): Hilbert GK Griffin Miller anchored the Hilbert defense and saved 75% of the shots he faced in the Hawks' season opener. Allowing just four goals while stopping 12 shots. His stellar play between the posts helped the Hawks earn a (14-4) road win at Thiel.
