AMCC ANNOUNCES ATHLETES OF THE WEEK FOR JANUARY 20-26, 2025

The Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference (AMCC) has announced its Athletes of the Week selections in the sports of men's & women's basketball, swimming & diving, wrestling, and men's volleyball for the period running from January 20-26, 2025.

Women's Basketball: Mount Aloysius G Angelina Kohlwaies had the most productive week of her career, while also setting her career high with 26 points. In the Mounties victory against Pitt-Greensburg, Kohlwaies scored 26 points, 16 of which came in the third quarter, while going 9-for-15 from the field and 6-for-9 from three point range. She filled the stat sheet with six assists and seven rebounds, to go with three steals and two blocks. Then she followed that up with 25 points on 9-for-10 shooting in a victory against Pitt-Bradford, while playing just 22 minutes. The sophomore went 7-for-8 from three point range, which was also a career-high. Kohlwaies averaged 25.5 ppg, 6.0 rpg, 5.5 apg and 2.5 steals, while leading the Mounties to a 2-0 week.

Men's Basketball: Pitt-Greensburg F Trent Rozich had a triple-double of 16 points, 10 assists, and 10 rebounds against Penn State Behrend in a win on Saturday. Rozich also recorded a double-double against Mount Aloysius, which included 17 points, 10 rebounds, three steals and two assists in the win over the Mounties He averaged 16.5 points, 10 rebounds, and six assists over two games. The Bobcats went 2-0 last week and have won eight of their last nine games.

Men's Volleyball (Offensive): Buffalo State S Jackson Stang led the Bengals to a weekend split against Elmira and King's College this past weekend. Stang compiled 53 assists (8.83 assists per set) as he eclipsed 1,000 for his career, making him the first Bengal to reach the milestone.

Men's Volleyball (Defensive): PS-Behrend MH Lewis Rhodes averaged 1.64 blocks per set, knocking down a total of 23, including 16 assisted and seven solo blocks. He added 19 kills, five digs and one ace in three matches.

Women's Swimming: PS-Behrend FR Kallie Smith had two personal records while winning four individual events in a 2-0 week for the Lions. She touched first in the 100 breaststroke (1:12.80) and in the 500 freestyle (5:38.54). Against Nazareth, Smith won the 100 breaststroke (1:12.62) and the 200 breaststroke (2:39.59) and swam on the winning 400 medley relay.

Women's Diving: Penn State Behrend SO Nora Blasch was first with a score of 155.40 on the one-meter board, before winning the three-meter board with a total of 144.83 vs. Fredonia. Against Nazareth she posted a score of 164.30 on the three-meter board and 185.25 on the one-meter board.

Men's Swimming: PS-Altoona SO Hunter McMullen helped lead the Lions to a 3-0 week that consisted of wins over non-conference opponents Lebanon Valley, Juniata, and Elizabethtown. In Friday night's home win over Lebanon Valley, Hunter won the 100 Yard Butterfly (53.77) while being part of first-place finishes in the 200 Yard Medley Relay (1:39.64) and 200 Yard Freestyle Relay (1:30.25). The sophomore followed that up with another strong showing in a tri-meet sweep at Juniata on Saturday, where he won the 100 Meter Butterfly (1:00.11) and the 50 Meter Butterfly (27.05) while being part of relay wins in the 200 Meter Medley Relay (1:52.39) and the 200 Meter Freestyle Relay (1:41.52).

Men's Diving: Alfred State JR Conor Compton won both 1-meter and 3-meter boards. On the 1-meter, he scored 269.85. Then on the 3-meter board, Compton won with a score of 272.25. Then at the Dick Comanzo Invite, on the 3-meter board, Compton finished first with a score of 563.40. Then on the 1-meter board, Compton tallied a score of 550.75 for first place. With that score, Compton set a new AMCC 11-dive record.

Women's Wrestling: PS-Altoona FR Aja'nai Jumper (207) went 2-2 in Sunday's PA Women's Collegiate State Championships at East Stroudsburg and finished in fifth place in the 207 bracket. Both of her wins were in comeback fashion, as she defeated Waynesburg's Ja'Khia Matthews in the consolation round and later rallied to win against Ursinus' Evette Colon in the fifth-place bout.

Men's Wrestling: Pitt-Bradford JR D.J. Slovick went 5-1 for the Panthers with a third place finish at the Jamestown Open. He went 4-1 at the Open, pinning four opponents, while only losing to a Division I wrestler. He also scored the only points for the Panthers in a dual meet loss at St. John Fisher, winning by a 4-1 decision.
