D'YOUVILLE MEN'S BASKETBALL CONTINUES TRADITION OF DONATING FOOD FOR THE HOLIDAYS

The D’Youville College men’s basketball team continued their holiday tradition this year of purchasing food items for those who are less fortunate in the community.

Prior to Thanksgiving, members of the men’s basketball team spent $250 on various food items to make seven complete dinners to donate. All the food donated went to the annual Thanksgiving Food Drive that is run by the D’Youville Campus Ministry.

The funds to purchase the food items came from the team’s fundraising account in which they work various events to replenish the account.

Head coach Earl Schunk feels that it is important to continue to give back to the community whenever given the opportunity as this is the eighth consecutive year the men have participated in this event.

“Being able to contribute to the less fortunate and work with Campus Ministry has been a great experience has been a big part of what we do for the past eight years,” said Schunk. “Our guys work hard and the fact they we have been able to take some of that hard work money and feed those in need is really special. We have a special group of young men here and I am proud to be associated with them and this institution.”

Over the past several years, the men have also worked with the women’s basketball and softball teams to donate food to those in need.
