PITT-BRADFORD ATHLETICS PARTICIPATES IN YWCA WALK A MILE IN HER SHOES EVENT

Over 70 University of Pittsburgh at Bradford student-athletes, coaches, staff and friends participated in the annual Walk a Mile in Her Shoes event Thursday.

The event is hosted by YWCA Bradford's Victims' Resource Center to raises awareness of sexual violence.

In total, hundreds of community members came out to support the annual event.

It is marketed as a men's event, encouraging men to walk a mile around Downtown Bradford wearing high heels, but all are encouraged to attend and participate.

YWCA Bradford hosts the annual event each April as part of the recognition of Sexual Assault Awareness Month.

Because of the large contingent of student-athletes and Pitt-Bradford staff members in attendance, the Panthers were awarded 2019 Largest Team award, the second-straight year the Panthers garnered the honor.

Raising awareness for sexual violence is just one branch of YWCA Bradford's mission, which is, "YWCA Bradford is dedicated to eliminating racism, empowering women and promoting peace, justice, freedom and dignity for all."
