HILBERT WOMEN'S BASKETBALL AND SOFTBALL TEAMS CONTINUE TO ASSIST SPECIAL OLYMPICS

For the third year in a row, Hilbert College student-athletes spent a Saturday morning assisting with the WNY Special Olympics at their annual basketball clinic in Williamsville.

Clearfield Community Center hosts the annual clinic and they reserve two courts for full court play while a third playing surface is dedicated to specific stations to work on different skills.

Members of the women's basketball and softball teams assisted the Special Olympic athletes in these skills stations which included shooting, speed and zig-zag dribbling, and passing accuracy.

There was a wide age range of about 30 athletes participating in the skills competitions and many more competing in full court games that were split into two 10-minutes halves.

At the end of the morning,  the Hilbert volunteers pinned ribbons on each Special Olympian and created a fan tunnel for them to run through in celebration.
