GOODSEL, DOHERTY NAMED 2022 FAR AWARD WINNERS; ALL-ACADEMIC TEAM ANNOUNCED

The Faculty Athletic Representatives (FARs) around the AMCC have voted on and selected the 2022 FAR Award Winners. On the men's side is Penn State Behrend men's volleyball player JP Goodsel while Medaille College softball player Abbigail Doherty represents the women's side. Goodsel and Doherty were chosen from among 18 outstanding student-athletes named to the AMCC All-Academic Team, earning the prestigious honor after a successful four years in the classroom, in the community, and in their respective sport.

Goodsel graduated in May 2022 as a triple major in Plastics Engineering Technology, International Business/Engineering, and Finance, while also earning a Master's Degree in Manufacturing Management. He recorded a 3.92 GPA throughout the course of undergraduate degrees, while earning a 4.0 in graduate school. Goodsel, a Schreyer's Honor College member, was named the 2021 & 2022 Penn State Behrend Male Scholar-Athlete. He was a member of the AMCC Academic All-Conference Team from 2018-2022 and was inducted into the Chi Alpha Sigma National Student-Athlete Honor Society in 2020 and 2021. On the volleyball court, Goodsel was named the 2022 AMCC Player of the Year, while also picking up first team all-conference honors in 2022 and was a second team all-conference selection in 2020. He finished his career as a two-time AMCC Champion (2018 & 2022) and finished in the top five all-time at Behrend in several categories: 3rd in aces, 4th in kills, and 5th in kills per set. Goodsel was a member of the Penn State Behrend Student-Athlete Advisory Committee (SAAC), while serving as the President in 2021-22. 

Doherty graduated in the spring of 2022 with a 4.0 in Psychology. She was a member of the Dean's List, the AMCC Academic All-Conference Team, and was an AMCC Peak Performer all four years of her college career. Doherty was inducted into the Chi Alpha Sigma National Student-Athlete Honor Society in 2020, while also earning the Medaille Medal in 2020. On the softball field, the catcher served as a team captain since the fall of 2019. She earned AMCC second team all-conference honors in 2021 and was a three-time recipient of the Team First Award (2020, 2021, 2022). She was named to the AMCC All-Sportsmanship team in 2020. Doherty was President of the Medaille Student-Athlete Advisory Committee (SAAC) and a member of the Medaille College Honors Program. She was accepted to the Clinical Psychology Doctoral Program at Medaille College, where she will begin in the Fall of 2022.

Males:
Alfred State College SR baseball player AJ Gartland graduated with a 4.0 in Architecture and was a 3X academic award recipient, he was a five-year starter on the baseball team as a pitcher, he made 49 appearances, started 34 games, recorded 10 wins, pitched 191.2 innings and struck out 143 batters...Hilbert College SR baseball player Jonathan Wilson graduated with a 3.99 GPA in Accounting, earning academic honors ever semester, was a 4X AMCC Academic All-Conference member and 4X AMCC Peak Performer, was inducted to Chi Alpha Sigma and Sigma Beta Delta, the Business Honor Society. He was a four year starter on the baseball team, posting a .270 career batting average with 18 doubles, three triples and three home runs while logging 42 RBIs, 55 runs scored and 12 stolen bases over his career...La Roche University SR golfer Casey Hulbert graduated with a 3.683 GPA in Marketing/Management and was a five-time member of the Dean's List...Medaille College SR lacrosse player Matthew Printup graduated with a 3.86 GPA in Adolescent Education with a minor in Special Education, as he finished the season with one goal, six groundballs, and five caused turnovers, despite personal injuries throughout the season...Mount Aloysius College SR tennis player Cole Kazmierczyk graduated with a 3.85 GPA in Accounting, earning Dean's List honors every semester, he was inducted in the Delta Epsilon Sigma Honor Society, the Chi Alpha Sigma Athletic Honor Society, and was named the Mount Aloysius Male Scholar Athlete of the Year. He played in the No. 1 singles and doubles spots for the Mountie tennis team and was named the team MVP in 2022, while also serving as a member of various clubs on campus...Penn State Altoona SR volleyball and tennis player Micah Brinker graduated with a 3.52 GPA in Nursing, he was named to the AMCC Academic All-Conference Team and was an AMCC Peak Performer, he earned AMCC first team all-conference honors in tennis and third team all-conference honors in volleyball, Brinker was a member of the Penn State Altoona Student-Athlete Advisory Committee and completed 300 clinical hours during the spring semester...Pitt-Bradford SR baseball player Alex Miles graduated with a 3.591 GPA in Business Management, while also picking up a minor in Economincs, he was inducted in the Chi Alpha Sigma National Student-Athlete Honor Society and was named the UPB Male Scholar-Athlete of the Year, as a pitcher he was ranked in the top ten in the AMCC in starts, wins, innings pitched, strikeouts, and complete games...Pitt-Greensburg SO soccer player Gabriel Yeager carries a 3.94 GPA in Applied Mathematics, he is an AMCC Peak Performer, a member of the AMCC Academic All-Conference Team, and was named the UPG Male Scholar-Athlete of the Year, while also helping lead the men's soccer team to the AMCC tournament for the first time since 2014.

Alfred State College JR soccer and track & field student-athlete Isabelle Popoff recorded a 4.0 in Architecture...La Roche University SR women's soccer player Kaylyn Cannon carries a 3.711 GPA with a major in Exercise and Sports Science and a minor in Psychology, she is a 5X member of the Dean's List, team captain of the women's soccer team, and a volunteer at Breakout Rehabilitation Physical Therapy...Hilbert College SR basketball player Ashley Schroeder graduated in May with a 4.0 in Criminal Justice, while she continues to work towards her Master's Degree in Criminal Justice Administration, she received numerous academic honors all four years, is a member of the Hilbert College Honors Program and was an AMCC third team all-conference selection in basketball...Mount Aloysius College SR softball player Lexus Wilt graduated in May with a 3.99 GPA in Criminology, she was named the Mount Aloysius Female Scholar Athlete of the Year, while also earning multiple academic awards and national honor societies. The pitcher/shortstop has also volunteered at the humane society, nursing homes, blood drives, Relay for Life, and Operation Christmas Child...Penn State Altoona SR volleyball and basketball player Alexis Cannistraci graduated in 2022 with a 3.44 GPA in Kinesiology/Exercise Science and was named to the AMCC Academic All-Conference Team, she was an AMCC first team all-conference selection in basketball and became the program's all-time leading scorer with 1,503 career points...Penn State Behrend SR women's basketball player Ashley Seamon graduated with a 3.97 GPA with a major in Industrial Engineering and a minor in Operations and Supply Chain Management, she completed numerous design projects, received many academic awards, while also serving in leadership positions for multiple clubs and societies and serving as a research assistant and manufacturing intern...Pitt-Bradford SR soccer and basketball player Emily Bethel graduated with a 3.95 GPA in Athletic Training, as she was named the UPB Scholar-Athlete of the Year and earned the Graduating Senior Academic Excellence Award, along with other academic accomplishments. She was named the UPB women's soccer defensive MVP after recording 157 saves this season...Pitt-Greensburg JR Elizabeth Penrose carries a 3.91 in Nursing, is an AMCC Peak Performer and AMCC Academic All-Conference member and was named the UPG Female Scholar Athlete of the Year.
